Cool Place: Hatch Show Print

I've only been to the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville twice. The first time was back in 2007 for an Interpol show. It was an experience unlike any other. Though the Ryman has a big name, the venue is actually rather small and the stained glass and church pew seating give the place a comforting feel. Besides the venue itself, another great asset of the Ryman is Hatch Show Print. Hatch is one of the oldest working letterpress print shops in the United States and they make amazing concert prints for the Ryman.  They're all made by hand with old-fashioned presses that press wood and metal images against the paper. My second trip to the Ryman was earlier this month when we saw Arcade Fire and I picked up another one of these great show prints.

Arcade Fire Print and a very cool video about Hatch Show Print after the jump.

About Me: I Had A Bitchin' Skateboard

Yep, that's me at 9 years old. I had everything a child of the nineties needed: a bowl cut, a sweatsuit, and a 1990 Mike McGill "Stinger" deck by Powell Peralta. I used to shred my suburban Indiana neighborhood like it was Venice Beach, or at least that's how I prefer to remember it.

The Walkmen Are Returning

The Walkmen are releasing their new album Lisbon on September 14th. This is great news for two reasons. First, because they make really good albums. Second, for whatever reason, they are one of the few great bands that continues to come back for more and more Indianapolis. They'll be playing The Vogue on October 12th.  Normally I'll see a band once and then just enjoy their music over the stereo from then on, but this will be my third time seeing The Walkmen in Indy. Even though my musical taste has changed drastically since I first saw them open for the Strokes in 2004, I still can't get enough of The Walkmen. Listen to the track below and tell me that you don't want to go.

I Want That…Censored Rap Video Shirt

From 4th to 7th grade, I listened to nothing but rap music and I remember a ton of videos with blurred shirts and hats. Since I was so young, I naturally assumed that what was being blurred must have been the filthiest thing possible, but in reality it was probably just a Timberland or British Knights logo. Burlesque of North America is selling this awesome censored rap video shirt with a blurred Nike logo and I want one.
